• Lower water level to proper winter height (no more than 18” from top of pool for concrete or gunite)
  
• Backwash filter, if applicable, drain filter equipment and remove pump, if possible, for inside storage
  
• Drain heater and apply rodent deterrent, if applicable
  
• Remove summer fittings
  
• Pools with spa; drain spa, remove fittings, blow water from plumbing lines, plug, add anti-freeze and refill to winter level
  
• Blow water from all plumbing lines, plug and add non-toxic anti-freeze.
  
• Remove deck equipment (ladder, diving board, hand rail)
  
• Add winter chemicals
  
• Install cover, fill and place water tubes or install safety cover and adjust straps
